The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) engaged in a two-day joint operation with Police in Newcastle, to check that dangerous goods in transit were being stowed, restrained and labelled correctly.

The Department of Mines and Petroleum joined the WA Police, Main Roads, ComCare, the Department of Transport and WorkSafe in a joint operation focusing on ensuring that dangerous goods were being transported safely and securely.

A transport company operating out of Western Australia has been fined $31,000 for breaches relating to the transport of dangerous goods. A total of 14 separate offences were charged against the company, including failure to placard, carry required documentation and safety equipment.
